Deniz Başar – On the Edge of Language, at the Shores of the Body

Akademisyen, oyun yazarı ve kukla yapımcısı Deniz Başar’ın çalışmalarını bir araya getiren bu yayın, sanatçının kukla teorisi ve politik performativite üzerine geliştirdiği üretimlere kapsamlı bir bakış sunuyor.

Tasarım yaklaşımı; hem görsel hem metinsel düzlemde, beden, dil ve temsil arasındaki sınırları sorgulayan eserin içeriğiyle paralel bir deneyim yaratmayı amaçladı.

Proje kapsamında, basılı ve dijital olmak üzere iki formatta üretim gerçekleştirildi. Kitap, sanatçının deneyimlerini ve projelerini içeren bir portfolyo yayını olarak, üniversitelerin ilgili programlarına başvuru sürecinde kullanılmak üzere hazırlandı.

Yayın, GMK Grafik Tasarım Sergisi kapsamında ödül alarak dikkat çekti. Görsel tasarım diliyle, kukla sanatı ve performans arasındaki ilişkiyi görünür kılan bir yayın haline geldi.

Bringing together the works of academic, playwright, and puppet maker Deniz Başar, this publication offers a comprehensive perspective on the artist’s practice, focusing on puppet theory and political performativity.

The visual approach aimed to mirror the content’s exploration of the boundaries between body, language, and representation through an integrated reading and viewing experience.

Produced in both print and digital formats, the publication functions as a portfolio book presenting Başar’s experiences and projects. It was designed to accompany her applications to university programs in related disciplines.

The publication received an award at the GMK Graphic Design Exhibition, standing out for its design that bridges the fields of puppetry and performance. It presents a strong visual and conceptual connection between text, movement, and materiality.
